Night Fashion Shoot

These Images are from a recent Fashion shoot I did. I rented The Alien bee ring flash (ABR800) from borrowlenses.com thanks by the way! (pay me now for the mention) lol. I used the ring flash as a main light for most of the shots, it works very well as a fill also. Overall I was really happy with it, lots of power right in your face! I did have to lug around a vagabond on my back, and hold the ring flash, camera combo so it wasn't for the weak, lug this set up around for a few hours and you will know what I mean.

St.Louis Trip

Last month I went and visited my friend and photographer Jonathan Lehman in St. Louis. Had a great time and here are a few images from that weekend. I did get to take the old Mamiya RZ67 for a spin, and Jonathan got to test out my Canon 1Ds Mark II with the 85mm lens. The Mamiya is amazing and is probably my favorite camera, its funny how I like the old film camera more than the expensive digital body! By the way if you are ever in the downtown St. Louis area you have to eat at Sweetie Pie's, this place has some home cooking thats just as good as grandmas!

Thought I would post another Polaroid, I am hooked! I have been actively shooting more in the past month or so. Even if the images I make stink, at least I am shooting a lot and maybe come across something I like! least that's what I tell my self.

Just got my new AE prism finder for my MamiyaRZ67! pretty excited to test it out. This camera is a beast though, about 6 pounds with lens, back, prism, and body.

Saying Yes

Just got finished up a book by Cindy west called Saying yes: Accepting God's amazing invitation to artist and the Church. The book really changed my views on artist role in the Church and how powerful this gift of art really is. It doesn't talk a whole lot about photography but arts overall and and really questions what are you doing with the gift of art." If we're walking and talking and living today, we have the ability-and the responsibility-to create art that matters, art that offers up to others the gifts of reflection, of newness, of actual transformation." Cindy west.

The vacation was great! the family and I went down to Gatlinburg TN for some R&R, I went indoor skydiving, and white water rafting, so it was fun times. Pics are coming as soon as i attempt to switch out my hard drive for the second time!

Fashion shoot

Fun shot from a fashion shoot, never made it to the site or port so I figured i would share it. getting ready for a much needed vacation. going to the Smokey Mountains to relax with the family. Debating what cameras I should bring on the trip?? hmmm i might leave the DSLR, and the RZ67 and just go with the Holga? any ideas?

Wonderful Landscapes

I was down in Key West Florida on vacation with my family and ran into one of Peter Lik's Gallery's. He is a Landscape photographer who is from Australia, who takes gorgeous images from all over the world. He is very successful with fourteen galleries worldwide. I would love to get my hands on one of his prints!!

 I am getting together some of my images from vacation to post soon.

It's me, I won 1st place in the adult division in the 82nd Annual McLean County Amateur Art Competition-Exhibition. The image was from my South Africa mission trip last year. This image is titled "Music Man" (thanks Erin) and it was in Soweto South Africa. 

Film is not dead

look what I got in the mail the other day. Now I can develop my own B&W film again, long live film!!

Holga Fun

This is an image I took with my handy dandy Holga. its nice sometimes to just go out, and shoot and not worry about meters, exposure, and lighting. This Image was taken a few years back when i was in New York. I just had the camera around my neck and shot, you get some good stuff when people aren't expecting you to take there photograph. I will follow up with more Holga images

New textures

I received some textures from my buddy Jonathan a while back and I'm just now getting to use them. here is an image of my brother. shot with my 20d and two sigma's 500 DG super flashes. one with an umbrella camera right, and the other is bare bulb on camera left. In the image I used two different textures and a border. I never used textures before but they are pretty cool, i like the different effects you can get with them.
